19th November 2011 ~ A visit to San Anton Gardens and Traditions Malta

We were met by a representative of Traditions Malta who was dressed up as a Grand Master.  A treasure hunt about San Anton Gardens, monuments and Maltese traditions was organised.  After the treasure hunt the scouts visited the exhibition  of Maltese traditions.  Afterwards we had a break at the President's tea gardens, were the children could see, animals and the herb garden.

     
 

22nd October 2011 ~ Buskett Outing & the surrounding Cave Dwellings of Ghar il- Kbir

We hiked to Ghar il- Kbir were the scouts observed the surrounding cave dwellings, cart ruts and the old quarries.  We headed for Buskett were we observed different kinds of trees and flowers.  Later on the activity ended with a cook out and a couples of games. 

     
 

18th July 2011 ~ Doughnut Tasting

Children having fun making, and tasting baked not fried doughnuts during a healthy eating campaign for beavers

     
 

9th April 2009 ~ Cultural visit to Cottonera Churches

Life pageant at Senglea which was presented by Selesjani Youths.  After the pageant visits to Cottonera churches were made.  During these visits guides gave us information regarding the origin of the Statues and displays found within the church.

     
 

21st March 2009 ~ Hike

In this hike, we covered Rabat - Mgarr area. We talked about humanity and original dwellings. We seen the girna, the cave dwellings, cart rats, Victoria Lines and the irrigation system in the beautiful valleys of Mgarr.  It was a very windy day and our Cubs proved their salt.  By this time we had organized a bird’s nest in the school premises.

     
 

7th February 2009 ~ Hike

After the January rains, on the first week of February, we decided to go to Chadwick Lakes.  We took several photos of beautiful birds.  Another exhibition was organized, with the title ‘Chadwick Lakes’.  The water bed, dams, reservoirs, beech trees, frogs, pumping stations were the talk of the hikes.  Water, water everywhere and every drop to drink.

     
 

24th January 2009 ~ Cultural Visits

On the third week of January, we went to Ghajn Tuffieha to see towers and we explained localities and functions of De Redin Towers.  We had the time to play on the sand, clean the beaches and speed our ways on the chalk terrain of this locality.  Another exhibition with the title De Redin Towers was organized at the primary school.  This time we had cardboard and chalk models of the De Redin Towers.

     
 

15th January 2009 ~ Arbor Day

By this time all the parents were involving themselves in the organization of these exhibitions, which we regarded as the ‘informal lessons in Scouting’.  Arbor Day was organized.  We planted three trees, namely, an orange, laurel and lemon tree.  These trees were planted in the primary school grounds.

     
 

3rd January 2009 ~ Hike

During the first week of January, we explained how the transport system works, for we prefer to use the local transport.  The Cub scouts started to pay for their own fare.  This helped them to organize their own budget for the hike.  They can get a look at different town and villages from where the public bus passes.   The first hike in the first week of January took us to Mdina where we have talked about Architecture, folklore and our local history.  After the hike, two exhibitions were organized at the Xgħajra primary school entitled Public Transport in Malta and another with the title ‘Mdina’.
