4th - 13th August 2011 ~ Summer Camp 2011
10 days, 22 scout members, 6 leaders, 4 ventures,
13 troop, 2 patrols which made 1 amazing, unforgettable
and historical Summer Camp.
For the fifth consecutive year, the Summer Camp was held
at San Anard, a back to basic camp. Without lights
& comfortability, in the middle of nowhere, it was
another successful camp stamped in
Xgħajra
Scout Group history.
Day by day, different activities were planned such as
pioneering project, memorable t-shirt spraying, camp
thanks giving mass, swimming, canoeing, sinnets,
backwoods cooking, camp ovens, mud games, Scavengers
Hunt and many other enjoyable activities. |

~ A day in the sky
A day
which we'll never forget. Island Microlight Club
organised a day for Xgħajra
Troop Section which included: - Brief ground
lesson about Principles of Flight - Visit to rescue
section at AFM Air Wing - 20 minute flight in a
microlight - Presentation of Airman’s Badge |

11th June 2011
~ Guide Badge
Visiting fortifications on the east side
of the grand harbour which included Fort St. Leonardo,
Delle Grazie Battery, Fort St. Peter, Fort St. Rocco,
Fort Rinella and Fort Ricasoli. Information was
collected and developed in a project. |

7th June 2011
~ 3 Course meal
Each patrol was
given a bag full of food. They had to plan a 3
course meal menu. The
challenge was won by the patrol which presented the best menu,
the best preparation of the dining area and the best
presentation and off course the taste of the food . All
patrols had brilliant ideas which were reveled in
wonderful tasty dishes. |

4th June 2011
~ Bike Hike & Air
Spotter
After the first meeting, on how to make
a puncture and other tips on cycling, now it was time
for the bike hike. From
Xgħajra
the scouts went to Marsascala, Zejtun, Marsaxlokk, Għaxaq,
Gudja and ended at Safi. There they made their Air
Spotter time and after a couple of hours, the journey
continued back to H.Q. |

25th - 27th March 2011
~ Patrol
Expedition
Training, training
and training was the exercise and pathfinder was the
aim. As part of the pathfinder, a
three day - two night expedition was planned, but this
time not for training. The journey started from
Qrendi Parish Church and ended at Buskett for the first
night. The scouts pitched up their tents and
prepared their fire to have their dinner. Early in
the morning, breakfast was prepared and after the scouts
prepared to continue the route for the second day, were
it led them to Ghajn Tuffieha. Slept a night at
Ghajn Tuffieha campsite and for the third day, the
scouts ended the journey at San Pawl il- Bahar. |

19th - 20th March 2011
~ Patrol
Expedition
As part of the pathfinder, a
two day - one night expedition was planned as training.
The journey started from Zebbug Parish Church and ended
at Wied Babu, where there the scouts camped for their
first night. The scouts pitched up their tents and
prepared their fire to cook. Early in the morning,
breakfast was prepared and after the scouts prepared to
continue their way to Luqa Church under heavy rains. The
brave scouts continued and where back home safe and
sound.

29th January 2011
~ Troop Hike
Early morning,
the section were ready for it's first hike of the year.
On a beautiful morning, the boys and girls took the bus
to Valletta. From Valletta, they took the second
bus to Mosta, for their first point. After a few
hours hiking in the countryside, their last point was at
Ghajn Tuffieħa were there
they prepared and cooked their backwoods food. The
day was concluded on a positive way, were the troops
enjoyed their day having fun on the clay cliffs. |

1st -
3rd October 2010
~ PL Camp
A PL Camp was organised
on a Group Level Base for all Patrol and Assistant
Leaders. The aim of this camp was to guide the PL's &
APL's to assist and take care of their patrol in a
better way. The camp was divided into certain types of
adventure. A hut was build with wood found, for shelter
as the first exercise. Another exercise planned was a
hike which turned to night hike. |

26th
September
2010 ~ Malta International Airshow
This event was an opportunity
for the scouts to work
on two proficiency badges, The Air
Researcher Badge and the Air Spotter
Badge. The scouts showed their
interests by taking photos with planes
and pilots, gathering information and
enjoying the show. |

26th June 2010 ~ Abseiling
Joint Activity with 31st Mosta Guide Group
Xgħajra
Troop Section and Venture Unit joined 31st Mosta Guide
Group for a day filled with various
activities. During the day,
abseiling, cook outs and swimming were
planned and organised. The
activity took place at Wied ix-
Xaqqa limits of Għar
Lapsi. |

7th May 2010 ~ Mother's Day Dinner
After the great success of the 3 course
meal organised by the troop section in the 10th February, the
same children organised another 3 course meal dedicated to the
parents,
especially the mothers for the mother's day occasion.
This dinner was consisted of antipasto, starter, main course and
was ended up with a good taste.
We would like to thank all those who attended and cooperated for
supporting our children. A big well done and thank you goes to
all the leaders, supported parents and without any doubt to all
the scouts who participated.

17th March 2010 ~ Figolli by Troop Section
Another successful activity!!!
After the success in the cooking challenge, the troop section
turned up with the figolli idea. Members from the troop section
dedicated their time to learn how to make figolli step by step.
We would like to thank everyone who helped in this activity
especially AGSL Ms. P Borg.

10th February 2010 ~ Cooking Challenge
Each patrol planned a 3

23rd January 2010 ~ Guide Badge
Another day for the Guide Badge was organised as a
Treasure Hunt in Vittoriosa, one of the three cities.
We met at H.Q. at 8.30 am and walked to Vittoriosa. The
patrols were given an envelope with photos of historical
places and items. They had to find in which street the
photo is and find available information regarding the
place.

14th November 2009 ~ Patrols Mdina Treasure Hunt
Another day for the guide badge was concluded today in Mdina,
followed by a treasure hunt. Each patrol was given a set
of photos and each patrol had to find the street where the
object is situated and what was it's role. |

1st - 3rd November 2009 ~ Patrol Camp
Another successful camp!! In this camp,
each activity was formed as a competition between the patrols.
During this camp, the patrols had to build a gadget to secure
and decorate their are were they slept. Following this
activity, each patrol designed and sprayed their own t-shirt.
The day was closed with all the scouts and ventures, round a
fire, eating sweets, melting marshmallows and telling scary
stories to celebrate Halloween Night. The following day,
the scouts were given a bag fill of food for the day. they
had to plan and design their own menu of the day, including the
three course meal. After the planning, the scouts left for
a hike, cooked at St. Thomas bay and at their way back they had
a First Aid Check point. For dinner each patrol had to
cook a three course meal on an open fire. After the meal,
the scouts had a commando night, were they painted their face
and had a wild game. This one of those successful camps,
full of energetic activities, fun, team work and participation. |

8th -
10th May 2009 ~ Joint Patrol Leaders Camp
Three days,
three sections, three patrols and one amazing camp . The camp
was organised by Xgħajra, Cospicua and Tarxien troop sections
for patrol leaders and their assistants. This camp was focused
on patrol handling, the role of patrol leader and patrol
responsibilities. During this camp patrol games and projects
were organised to build self confidence and self esteem. The
camp was ran by the sections' leaders and their assistants.
The result was positive, because the campers showed commitment,
integration and a good sense of responsibility. It was held at
Cospicua H.Q. and a big thanks goes to Cospicua Venture Unit for
their help during the camp. |

5th November 2008 ~ Joint Activity with Cospicua Troop Section
On the 5th November, a
football match was organised between the two sections. The football
match was planned to commit the members in physical activity. This
was a successful activity since there was a great participation and
enjoyable time between the two sections. |
