Marcel joined Xgħajra Group as a Troop in 1996 at the age of 10.  Throughout his period in the Troop Section he was appointed as an Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader and as a Senior Patrol Leader.  During his time in the Troop Section, he achieved all the Awards and was linked in the Unit in 2001.  In the Venture Unit, Marcel served also as a

secretary, cashier and later he was elected as a chairperson.  

In December 2000 he was awarded the Bronze Medal and the Bronze Cross in the Royal Life Saving Society and served for a several time at St. John Ambulance Brigade and Rescue

In March 2004 was pointed as an Acting Leader and served in all Sections.  During his period in the Venture Unit, he achieved the Venture Award and in February 2006 was presented the Dolphin Award by the Chief Commissioner.  In July 2006 he was awarded the President Gold Award by the Honourable President Dr. E Fenech Adami himself. 

He travelled in the UK at Great Tower Campsite at the Lake District Windermere and together with other scouts, accomplished his Dolphin Award.  In April 2007, Marcel attended the Queens Scout Parade & Service in Windsor Castle representing the Top Award Holders from Malta, were there he had the opportunity to meet Her Majesty the Queen.  Late October beginning of November 2010, Marcel was in charge of seven Maltese Venture Scouts contingent which led them to the top of the North East Etna's Crater with the help of an Italian Guide.  In June 2011, another honorable award, 'Gieħ is-Xgħajra', was awarded by the Xgħajra major his contribution to the work done at the locality. 

In present, Marcel is a hectic person in Xgħajra Scout Group.  He leads the Venture Unit, the Troop Section and the Group's Scout Pipe Band with his assistance.
