"My best and most fun memories come from Scouting, which has been a big part of my life for over 13 years"

As a kid, I loved setting up a tent in the living room and dreaming about adventures. I convinced my parents to let me join the scouts, and Xgħajra Scout Group was a perfect fit. My best and most fun memories come from Scouting, which has been a big part of my life for over 13 years. Even during the pandemic, when we had to go online, Scouting kept the adventure alive. Now, as a young leader, I want to give younger Scouts the same great experience I had, and make it even better. While I’m leading, I’m still learning and growing, and the group keeps helping me become a better leader and person.

"It is incredibly rewarding to witness the growth and learning of our Scouts as they overcome challenges and engage in the various activities we undertake together."

I have been a dedicated member of the group since 2015. I take great pleasure in supporting young Scouts as they develop their skills and build confidence. My favourite activities include hiking, exploring, and pioneering. It is incredibly rewarding to witness the growth and learning of our Scouts as they overcome challenges and engage in the various activities we undertake together.

"As a child, I have always wished to be a scout but there was never the opportunity. When I had my own children, it was one of the experiences I wanted them to try. Needless to say, that I eventually became a scout leader myself."

As a child, I have always wished to be a scout but there was never the opportunity. When I had my own children, it was one of the experiences I wanted them to try. Needless to say, that I eventually became a scout leader myself. I have always been involved in voluntary work and my job (social work) has always kept me in close contact with people. Working with children is a delight: to see them explore, learn and make new friends every time they meet. It is an opportunity to go for adventures but also to develop new life skills. I look forward to more new experiences with the Xghajra Scout Group

"Scouts helped me improve my skills and confidence, make new friends and understand more other members ideas and lifestyle."

I joined the Xghajra Scout Group in 2020 as assistance to Cub leader. I showed the interest in joining after seeing the Scout Group growing since my kids had been attending Xghajra Scount group since 2014. When I was younger I use to be part of Cospicua Girl Guides but always had a wish to join a Scout Group. Scouts helped me improve my skills and confidence, make new friends and understand more other members ideas and lifestyle. It also shows me that all members are different but willing to learn & to work together for better environment.

"As a mother, I’ve encouraged my eldest child to join the scouts and that decision reignited my own passion."

As a mother, I’ve encouraged my eldest child to join the scouts and that decision reignited my own passion. I loved the idea so much that I decided to get involved myself. I’ve always sought out new experiences and adventures and scouting offers exactly that. In a world where we often find ourselves indoors and glued to technology, I believe it’s more important than ever to embrace the values of scouting—getting back to basics, enjoying nature, and learning hands-on skills.

"While I enjoy watching my children learn and enhance certain skills, I also am learning myself and may incorporate such skills to my everyday life"

Last September I was invited by the members of the Xgħajra scouts to join their team. Little did I know how much I grew to love my time spent with such wonderful people. I am a mother of 2 scouts and I currently help out the Beaver Section. While I enjoy watching my children learn and enhance certain skills, I also am learning myself and may incorporate such skills to my everyday life. I am so proud to be part of such a well organised and dedicated team

"I strongly embrace the values of the scouts, and encourage the young minds of our members to be creative and to feel empowered."

I joined the Xghajra Scouts Group in 2023. I share my enthusiasm and creative energy with the beavers group. My principle to life is to try to do good wherever present. As a mother to a young boy, I discovered a profound new passion for dinosaurs, nature walks and messy activities. I enjoy going on long walks exploring nature and watching the beauty of sunsets, as a way to re-energise. I strongly embrace the values of the scouts, and encourage the young minds of our members to be creative and feel empowered.

"Since I had no scouting background at all, I learnt a lot along the way from all members of the group; young and old."

I first experienced the idea of scouting during the 2017 Summer Camp. On realising what a wonderful family Xghajra Scout Group is, I decided that I should give Leadership a shot.  This has been unarguably one of the best decisions of my life.  Since then, I have realised what a joy and blessing it is to be around children and teens; and it has been a very fruitful learning experience, too.  Since I had no scouting background at all, I learnt a lot along the way from all members of the group; young and old.  I have since

attended a number of training courses and I am on the way of obtaining my Wood Badge in the near future, God willing.

Looking forward to many more scouting adventures with my second family; Xghajra Scout Group.

"I did not only meet new friends but also learned a number of things, such as how important it is to take good care of the environment around us."

I joined Xgħajra scouts group back in 2010 and honestly it was one of the best decisions I've made so far.  I did not only meet new friends but also learned a number of things, such as how important it is to take good care of the environment around us. Thanks to to the group, I became more confident, ready to give a helping hand whenever needed. I'm currently a junior beaver leader, taking care of our little ones and making sure they have an awesome experience just like mine. I consider Xgħajra scouts group as my second family, one big loving and caring family.

"I first got involved in smaller projects, namely the HQ and helping out in some activities, however soon enough I got more and more interested and eventually it turns out that I made Scouts my second home!"

The truth is that I ever had the intention of joining any Scout Group before I enrolled our son early in 2018, when he was five years old. In spite of this, I always believed in Scouting in general, the extracurricular activities that it provides and the discipline that only Scouting can instill in our future adults.
I first got involved in smaller projects, namely the HQ and helping out in some activities, however soon enough I got more and more interested and eventually it turns out that I made Scouts my second home! Looking back, in these last years together we worked a lot and we achieved a lot. We managed to increase the membership, we made massive improvements in our Headquarters and organized numerous activities for our members and the general public, with very encouraging feedback.
On a personal level, I believe that even though keeping up with all the activities and constantly facing new challenges of all sorts to keep our team motivated needs time and commitment, seeing the Group growing and actively involved makes me keep going with a feeling of fulfillment.

I have two children,  who both joined the Xgħajra Scout Group at the age of five and continue to enjoy it. As an adventurous person, my main hobby is trekking, whether it's exploring the beautiful Maltese countryside or venturing into stunning forests and nature abroad.

I greatly admire the dedication of the Group Scout Leader, the Chairman, and all the leaders at the Xgħajra Scout Group. They selflessly devote a significant amount of their time to the continuous improvement of the Group and the development of our children. Inspired by their commitment, I decided to contribute by joining the finance team, drawing on my 30 years of experience working in the banking sector.

"Overall, I joined the scout group because I believe it will help me become a more responsible, resourceful, and well-rounded individual."

Scouting has always appealed to me because of its focus on teamwork, leadership, and personal growth. I was drawn to the opportunity to develop new skills, connect with others who share similar values, and contribute to my community.

The sense of adventure that comes with being part of a scout group was another big factor. Whether it’s learning survival skills, exploring the outdoors, or participating in service projects, I was excited by the idea of challenging myself and stepping out of my comfort zone.

Overall, I joined the scout group because I believe it will help me become a more responsible, resourceful, and well-rounded individual. I look forward to all the experiences and lessons that scouting will bring.
